Convenience (MTL Novel) Chapter 25

The Wedding Business Novel
Marriange Of Convenience Novel
C25

Seeing Sauveur's witty appearance, Zachary smiled. The atmosphere, which had been charged by Robert's statements, lightened a bit. Zachary shook his head and said.

"You're so motivated I can't hold you back anymore." Since Gaspard took over Bianca's escort, they will have to share the tasks that Gaspard was originally in charge of. What Gaspard was in charge of…

—Reorganization of logistics and horse management.

-Yes. Sauveur will take care of the horses and Robert will take care of the logistical reorganization.

-It is understood!

Robert and Sauveur closed their eyes tightly and answered loudly. They wanted to rest a little this winter, but it seems that it will not be possible. The two commanders sighed heavily. Still, isn't that a better position than Gaspard's? Thinking like that was the only way to calm his troubled minds.

"Then you can withdraw." I will instruct Gaspard separately on the delivery of bonds.

Upon Zachary's dismissal, Robert and Sauveur left Zachary's office. Suddenly they have a lot of work, their minds felt confused. His heavy feet. In particular, Robert was worried about what Zachary had said due to a slip of the tongue.

Sauveur clucked his tongue.

It was deserved. It doesn't matter how tough Zachary and Bianca's relationship is. What husband likes to see his wife being treated like this in front of him? This time, Robert was careless. He pretends to be good all the time, but he does this. Sauveur looked at Robert with blank eyes.

-Why did you do that?

"Are you fueling the fire?"

Robert was furious at Sauveur's taunts towards him, who stabbed his sore spot. As voices echoed in the hallway, Sauveur and Robert glanced toward Zachary's closed office door, shrugging their shoulders in surprise.

They tried to listen, but they didn't hear any sound in the office. Just then, Robert and Sauveur hurried away from Zachary's office.

After some distance, Sauveur opened his mouth.

"I thought my liver would fall out."

(T/N: synonymous with losing courage.)

-Yes. Everything is my fault. It's my fault for saying something stupid. It was my fault for yelling.

“It's good that you know.

 —……..

To Sauveur's witty reply,

Robert stamped his feet nervously. If he scratches his nerves any more, he'll explode. Sauveur met Robert's eyes as he advanced and said mischievously.

"I understand that you don't like the lady,

but don't be too obvious. Especially with the earl.

-That's weird. He likes to see art and furniture, do you think he would like to go to the capital? Do you think it will make him feel better if he buys all the things he wants to buy? Why should the Count care about the lady's mood? Honestly, the lady should be worrying about the earl!

Robert was too agitated. His well-groomed face turned bright red, and his dark hair was messy and covered the corners of his eyes.

Sauveur clucked his tongue slightly at Robert's appearance. Those who generally know Robert and Sauveur would blink at the thought that they had swapped bodies.

Robert, the third son of a family of barons, with a neat face and correct manners, was completely different from Sauveur, a man free of manners and formalities.

As Robert was the third in a family of barons, he had some education. He was no comparison to commoner people, and for that reason, he was the person with the most common sense among Zachary's three commanders. However, he was not that flexible. When his emotions ran high, he too would have a bit of a temper.

On the other hand, Sauveur was supposed to be short-tempered and quick in his words and deeds, but he had a strangely low boiling point. He didn't have the sense to read between the lines, but his instinctive sense was excellent. He recognized the moment when he had to hit and fall like a ghost, and showed a calm appearance in important moments.

Of course, even Sauveur was not pleased with Bianca's behavior. But, he had no intention of arguing like Robert, with veins bulging around his neck. Because that was off topic.

Robert sometimes overreacted because his loyalty to Zachary was too great. It may have been because they shared the sadness of being expelled from their families due to not being the eldest son. But Robert needs to know the reality.

They are just vassals, not Zachary's brothers. Sauveur said, patting Robert on the shoulder.

“It's really strange that you, who are smarter than me, haven't noticed. Do you really not know?

-What do you mean?

Robert responded sullenly. It was obvious that he didn't want to think deeply. If it was about Bianca, it was a sign of dislike for her. Sauveur added slowly with a sigh.

 "It's time for a successor."

 -What?

“The Earl is still fighting the war, but there is no heir in the Arno family. The concern is understandable. Also, the lady is now sixteen. Until now, she had put off the first night every day with the excuse that she was young, but since she is 16 years old, she is now old enough.

—……..

His head throbbed as if he had been hit with a hammer.

Robert shook his head in disbelief, then glanced repeatedly at Sauveur and Zachary's office across the hall he'd walked down. There was no objectively strange side to Sauveur's words, but they sounded to Robert like a series of words that he could not easily understand.

Robert, who had pondered Sauveur's words several times, asked stammeringly.

“S-so, right now, the Earl is taking her side, taking her to the capital city and saying that she can buy furniture or anything, so that she can see her successor.

-Correct. After all, she is the host of the Arno family. She has to have her successor. If you let another person give birth, she will only be an illegitimate child.

—…….

Sauveur answered bluntly. Sauveur's words were a theory, but unthinkable for this Château de Arno.

Does it say that the lady is going to have a son by the Count? "That lady?

Robert just tightened his mouth, but he couldn't say anything easily.

-Okay…. I don't think he's going to take the lady to the capital to please her…. Perhaps, if she sows one or two seeds, she can have a child? And maybe the lady she might change if she has a successor? Perhaps she is interested in her territory. Because, after all, it is the land that she will give to her own son.

Sauveur shrugged, speaking of his superior in a rather light tone. Normally, Robert would have yelled that he had crossed the line, but now he had no head for it.

“Anyway, be careful. Don't lose your temper. Although the two of them haven't had a close relationship at the moment, from now on, they will have to live together, and hearing such words about your wife is not a good thing. In a way, she will be the mother of our next lord.

—Ah…

Robert sighed as if he really hated it. But there was nothing wrong with Sauveur's words. Zachary is already twenty-nine years old. He was old enough to have a successor.

The Arno family has not yet firmly established their power, and they are aristocrats who have been called to power by war. Without the ground being properly cleared, there is no way they can withdraw from the war. In other words, it means that they have to keep wandering the battlefield. At least until the prince steadily ascends the throne as they push for the next king.

Since he always wanders around dangerous battlefields, it is a better decision for the future of the Arno family to confirm the succession as soon as possible, and it is also a matter of comfort for the vassals.

Robert, who had never dreamed that Zachary had even thought of that, was choked with emotion. It is his wife's duty to bear children, and she has gone to great lengths to fulfill that duty….

Robert and Sauveur said it conscientiously, confirming Zachary's intentions, but Zachary actually rejected Bianca's offer of a successor, calling it "absurd."

Also, Bianca, the party involved, was very suspicious of Zachary's actions, which they called "favors," but they were unaware of that fact.
