Convenience (MTL Novel) Chapter 106

C106

-My God.  The countess has a beautiful heart and a beautiful face.  She is truly worthy of being the lady with the golden rose.

"She is a countess, but she is a child after all. She forgives me easily with just a couple of kind words.  Anyway, Celine, you stupid bitch. You got the king's attention because you were arrogant for nothing...! It's pathetic that you can't even get a proper husband.  I want to know how long I'll have to clean up after this."

He belittled Bianca, who was younger than his daughter, and his deep thoughts were revealed on his face.

Viscount Volne blamed Celine, but in a way, it was also Viscount Volne who caused this to happen.  Viscount Volne wanted to become a recognized nobleman in the capital.  But his family had no geographical advantage, no wealth, and no military power.  For his family to take off, he had no choice but to start a marriage business, and so he always put pressure on Celine.  Even when she came to the capital this time, she threatened to get angry if she could not attract a plausible young master.

So Celine always looked for men of the right age, but to no avail. It was because the young men only paid attention to Bianca and Princess Odelli.

Princess Odelli was originally a member of the royal family, and her beautiful appearance was an incomparable opponent.  But Bianca was different.

Celine naturally compared herself to Bianca, who was her age.  In her eyes, she looked much nicer than brown-haired Bianca. So what was the difference?

Besides, Bianca's marriage was the perfect marriage that Celine wished for and would never get.  Inferiority and frustration. Plus, Bianca's stubborn attitude, as if she didn't want to date them, was enough to make her sarcastic.  That was the moment when Celine became particularly persistent and disliked Bianca.

But, that, Viscount Volne did not know.

"There are many eyes watching now, but as soon as I return to our quarters, I will slap this foolish girl."

He cursed Celine inwardly and smiled at Bianca with a smile full of regret. It was a smile full of pretension.

But her smile didn't last long. It was for the words Bianca added, shaking her head as if she was sorry, in a trembling tone.

-But look, viscount. The honor of the viscounty is not something I can forgive.  I trust the Viscount will behave himself for the trouble he has caused His Majesty.

-Ha, ha, ha, ha. -What do you mean by causing trouble to His Majesty, Countess? Our viscounty...

What Viscount Volne avoided the most was the king's intervention.  Since the king has not yet intervened directly, he thought it would be good to cover the situation as it is, but Viscount Volne was surprised by Bianca's words, which seemed to provoke the king's anger.

He quickly raised his voice to cover Bianca's mouth, but Bianca continued speaking without hesitation.

-The viscount called the young lady young, but as far as I know, the lady must have already come of age.  Viscount Volne stood aside even though his behavior was so bad that he followed false rumors and disturbed a banquet with envoys from other countries with unconfirmed stories. Wouldn't this be a sign of the level of Volne's own viscounty?

Bianca, who until now had been calm and quiet, did not miss a single word while arguing with the viscount, but pushed him, and everyone around her was surprised.

With the sharp rhetoric comparable to that of Count Davoville, called Snake Tongue, everyone clearly realized that Bianca must not be easily touched.

Viscount Volne's face turned red at the words of Bianca, who openly accused his territory.  It was impossible to tell whether it was from drunkenness or anger that he would have liked to strike young Bianca. Perhaps both.

If Bianca had not been the Countess of Arno and had not been at Zachary's side, it would have been a big problem.  Her figure as she tried to wring out her anger puffed up like a volcano.

-Luckily, the matter was resolved before anything major happened and Sevran's status was not compromised, but clearly there was a risk. Viscount Volne.  This is a disloyalty that occurred because the viscount was neglecting family affairs.

Bianca didn't care and continued.  As she casually brought up what she was desperately trying to hide, Viscount Volne repeated abusive words to himself.  Knowing nothing, Bianca smiled and kept talking.

-There are many ways to apologize to His Majesty... Well, wouldn't it be a good idea to keep quiet for a while?  It's a happy time for a royal wedding....

There is no need to come forward and go against His Majesty's heart, is there not, Your Majesty?

Viscount Volne's eyes turned anxiously to the king.  The wife of the hero of the kingdom was shamelessly insulted at a banquet.  The opponent is only the daughter of a viscount.  Whose side the king would take was an obvious outcome.

However, the reason Viscount Volne and Celine got to this point was because this was a women's fight.  There was an unwritten rule in social circles that conversations should not mix even if a woman and a man were seated together at a banquet. Behind the curtain, there is a corner where secret entanglement is also tolerated in the name of courtly love, but on stage, it was all about keeping the old unwritten rules in check.

The king was no different. Rather, he tried to be a better example because he was a king.

Bianca dared to speak to the king, but this time the king will ignore her.  If the king does not intervene, he can cover it up well. Unless the king intervenes.... in fact, he intervened in the women's conversation to cover up the incident, but Viscount Volne clung to complacency, hoping that the king would not intervene.

-... Countess Arno is right.

-Your Majesty!

But the king sided with Bianca.  Viscount Volne cried out in despair at the king's sentence, which was unexpectedly clear. Bianca, carrying the king's protection on her back, poured boiling oil on Viscount Volne's troubled heart.

-I hope you will pay more attention to the affairs of your family from now on.  Lest you be late and want to cover it up.

Viscount Volne's neck looked like it was about to explode. It was not enough to make a fool of himself in front of a young woman, but he could not easily suppress his anger because he was humiliated in front of the people.

If he backs down like this, Viscount Volne will not be able to set foot in the capital for a while.  Moreover, the length of this period depends entirely on the whim of the king, so he could be expelled from the capital without any promise.

For Viscount Volne, who tasted the honey dripping from the capital, it was like a death sentence.

He could not allow that to happen.  At the very least, he had to find a partner to marry Celine.

This incident has exposed his daughter's lack and recklessness everywhere, so she will not be able to even dream of a worthy marriage.

However, once they were expelled from the capital, the possibility of marriage itself would be slim.

Viscount Volne was not worried about his daughter's future, but about the restoration of the family!

As he was thinking of selling his daughter at a slightly higher price, the current situation for him was nothing short of a disaster.

He should have shushed Celine when she was speaking. At that moment, Viscount Volne laughed at Count Arno's stiff expression, but now he completely forgot about his actions and only blamed Celine.

Anyway, he couldn't just shut up and back away. As if cold water had been splashed on his head, he sobered up in an instant.  Viscount Volne pleaded desperately with the king.

-Your Majesty, please reconsider.  My daughter does not even have a fiancé yet.  If she cannot stay in the capital under these circumstances, she will never be able to marry.

-What does the marriage of a local noble have to do with the capital?

-That's right.  Because Viscount Volne is desperate, he may be making unreasonable excuses.

The ridicule from the audience that had been directed at Bianca earlier turned to Viscount Volne. A chuckle echoed through the banquet hall. Viscount Volne grimaced at this and once again exclaimed desperately.

-The stigma of not being able to come to the capital is a great sequel for locals like us. This time, my daughter was frivolous, but isn't it pitiful to be humiliated for this alone?  Please have mercy on me and consider the life of a child, Your Majesty.

Viscount Volne pleaded with compassion.  Although he bowed his head sublimely, Viscount Volne's face trembled with anger.
