Convenience (MTL Novel) Chapter 103

C103

When Bianca didn't show any reaction, those leading Bianca were embarrassed. Celine's eyebrows shot up. She asked tenaciously, like a hyena searching for a hole in Bianca.

"What are your hobbies, Countess?"

"It's embarrassing, but there's nothing in particular I like.

-Please. A noblewoman should have at least one or two hobbies, right?

Bianca let out a small sigh at the exaggeratedly high-pitched voice.

He was going to take a closer look at who leaked the rumors, but he was surprised that he revealed his existence so blatantly. Was she lucky that the job wasn't cumbersome and she wasted time….?

Apparently, when Celine, Viscount Volne's youngest daughter, spewed a comment, Baroness Guildard and the others dug into her words. And Catherine, the Countess of Davoville, who was accompanying them, found herself stuck in the middle, unable to do this or that.

They are hostile towards Bianca, perhaps because they are dissatisfied with the way she is alone, not attending her meetings or having any other social relationships.

Bianca, she couldn't afford to be worried about such socialization, but from her point of view, Bianca intended to be noble and pure on her own.

Of course, that doesn't mean that Bianca decides to start stressing out and hanging out with them, so this relationship won't settle down. So she has no choice but to step forward.

Bianca answered, still thinking in her head about how to make it work for her.

—I spend my time knitting or embroidering.

- She's thrifty. Did you embroider the dress that she is wearing today?

Baroness Guildard sneered.

Embroidery and weaving were often just part of aristocratic culture, and not something worthy of a hobby. It was shameful for a noblewoman to embroider her own dress, as it was something that maids did for a living.

Bianca responded calmly to the provocation.

“Fortunately, the maids in our family are quite good at embroidery.

-That's how it is. The embroidery on the dress is really delicate.

Feeling the atmosphere flowing strangely, the first prince's wife smiled awkwardly and interjected, but as soon as she did, the hostile comments latched onto it.

"Did you use gold thread?" It's green satin… It didn't cost a penny or two.

"I'd believe it if I put all my falconry money into a dress."

"A dress like that would trade for five well-bred falcons."

One by one they began to comment. Ordinary people would be so intimidated that they couldn't say anything, but Bianca snorted.

Raising a falcon that can go hunting doesn't cost a lot of money, but raising a falcon is culture and spending money on a dress is a waste of money. It wasn't even funny. Both are a waste of money for those without money, so what's the point? If they had the money anyway, they would want to wear a dress like this.

When she said that embroidery was her hobby, they treated her like she was poor, but when she said that the maids did it, she became a woman of luxury. If she is to be criticized, she would like public opinion to be created in one direction and not this and that, but her comments clashed contradictorily due to her desire to downplay Bianca on both sides.

But they weren't the only ones harboring a grudge. From the beginning of the banquet, they looked at Bianca's outfit and her lips were sweet, but because they weren't close to her, those who had never asked before opened their mouths one by one taking advantage of this opportunity.

“Mrs. Arno. What is that white shawl? It's the first time that I see it…. Is it the same material as the scarf he gave Count Arno at the tournament?

What interested them was the lace. The moment Zachary, who won the tournament, handed Bianca a white lace handkerchief along with the golden rose, all the eyes of the nearby noblewomen turned to him.

The scarf worn by the gentleman is originally given by the lady. Everyone wanted to ask Bianca, the owner of the scarf, what the scarf was and where she had gotten it.

Earl Arno's wife famously didn't socialize, so this banquet would be the only chance they had to ask. Naturally, while looking for the right moment to talk, Celine and her gang continued to make absurd noises, making the hearts of the women burn.

Lace was also a long-awaited theme for Bianca. Giving the lace scarf to Zachary was also a necessity to make lace a popular topic. It was part of that that she donned a large lace shawl for all to see today.

How can you explain lace in a more mysterious and plausible way?

Bianca chose an answer that might help raise the value of the lace if only a little.

It was unfamiliar for Bianca, who paid no attention to others, to respond while thinking about how others would accept her words.

When Bianca cleared her thoughts and opened her mouth to respond as discreetly as possible, someone intervened. It was Céline.

"Isn't that necklace a black opal?" It seems that all of Arno's profits went to the countess's dress. Didn't the Count say anything?

—It's fine because the profits of our territory are not only this.

Despite the unwanted voice and topic, Bianca responded slowly. But Bianca's heart was not at ease. Until now, she has let it slide, but when she was about to show off about her lace, she was severely interrupted right under her nose. The corners of Bianca's lips, which had been unflappable until this incident, twitched.

“And my husband never said a word about it. On the contrary, he said it fit me well, so I just ask if I would like to buy another one.

Bianca laughed like it was silly. Meanwhile, Count Arno was calm. The fact that there was no sign of embarrassment at Bianca's words, no sign of secret exasperation, was evidence of his words.

As if Celine's stupid words were very funny, Bianca's smiling face lifted slightly and Celine's face turned red. If Bianca's words are true, Count Arno was a wonderful husband. She was terrified that she couldn't get a glamorous boyfriend, but the fact that the husband of such a mean and ugly woman was Count Arno made her stomach turn.

The other women looked at their husbands. Perhaps because there were many stabs in her sharp eyes, the husbands secretly avoided her gaze by coughing.

Convinced that she had taken the initiative, Bianca instinctively knew that she had to seize this opportunity. She said, looking around her with cold light green eyes of hers.

“I know there are many rumors about me. But I wonder how many of them are true. Although I'm not very sociable, there are only a handful of people I've met in the capital, but I'm very puzzled because everyone here seems to know things about me that even I don't.

As soon as Bianca's words fell, the atmosphere turned cold. They all closed their mouths and looked Bianca in the eye.

Bianca sighed exaggeratedly and bowed her head. Her hair fluttered down, revealing the white nape of her neck, looking pitiful like a white deer.

-Okay…. I have no intention of discussing rumours. Because I don't really care what other people say about me anyway. But I don't think it's polite to say something intentional and overly sarcastic in a place where everyone is gathered like this.

Saying that, Bianca's eyes focused on Celine. It was clear who Bianca was pointing to. Everyone paid attention to Celine and her gang. Celine, taken aback by her sudden look, cried out.

"Don't pretend to be a poor victim, Countess Arno!" We know the truth!

-How true?

He finally caught her. Bianca blinked as if she really didn't understand, trying to suppress the urge to scream in ecstasy.

Celine was speechless at Bianca's natural reaction. Although she cried out loud without noticing her, there was no one who could openly criticize her for the lack of her in the banquet hall. Her bad personality or her lack of manners were nothing more than gossip, and they were trivial things to advertise.

Isn't there something you can point to?

Celine caught Catherine's eye as she bit her lip.

A thought appeared in his mind at that moment!

To the extent that it was questionable why she had missed it, the information that was too clear to humiliate Bianca snapped Celine out of her confusion.

She didn't know if it was really a good idea for her to bring it up, but Celine was confident.

Celine lifted her chin as if ignoring Bianca.

"Countess, do you not suffer from delusional jealousy?"
